Part One Generalities

Car
Do u have a car? yes I have Toyota
What model is it? It is a 1996(model)
Is it 4-door or 2-door ?
What color is yourcar? It is ketalic blue
Where was the car made?
What kind of car do u have ? I have a compact car

Various kinds of cars:(Classification base on the car body style)

1) Mcrocar(Bubble car)=The smallest automobile classification

2) Subcompact car=super mini car=city car=a car larger than microcar and smaller than compact car and its lenght not exceeding than 419mm
Many Hatchbacks is in this catagory

3) Compact car(American)=Small family car(British)=A medium sized car=larger than subcompac car but smaller than mid-size car their long is 445mm
Many Hatchbacks is in this catagory

4) Sedan(American)/Saloon car(british)=It has 3 campartments seprately :the passenger compartment features 2 rows if two seats and enough passenger space in the rear compartment for adult passnegers,the cargo cpmpartment is in the rear
Sedan cars is the one of most common car body styles

4) Sport car

5)Super car=Very expecnsive and fast sport car

6) Convertible car=is a kind of automoble it can convert from open_air mode to provisional enclosed(roofed)

7) Roadster car=Is an open 2 seat car with emphasis on sporty handling often they have soft tops

8) Mini van=large MPV=it is a decribtion for a van,and has a high interior volume

NOTE
we have the othere classification of cars like:

1) Calassification base on number of cylinder(3cylinder,4cylinder,6cylinder,...)

2) Classification base on volume of engine like V3.2,V6,V8

5) Classification base on (Automatic or Manual or Semi-Automatic ) transmission
Transmission=Assembly of parts includingthe speed-changing gears and propeller shaft by which the power is transmitted from engine to a live axle(clutch+gearbox+prop shaft)
Often transmission refers simply to the gearbox

He is not old enough to drive a car
Do not ask dad If u can use this car, he never lefts anyone else drive it

It is an English car,English carss are right-hand drive

We usually hire a car when we go on holiday

Cars can parked on both sides of the road

Car park=Parking lot(American)=An area where people can park their cars

We did not stoped to visit the castle because the car park was full!

Parking garage= An en closed building in a public place where people can par their cars

NOTE
A hotel with free parking is wrong because parking is non countable noun and u can not use it with a(parking) but u can use parking space or parking place when u mention to one space to park
There is a parking space(not Parking) in front of that house

U can use car park or parking lot when u mention to a space to park in area or building
Large car parks(not parking) near train station

He got into the car and drove off towards the motorway

My new car certainly more reliable ,The last one was never out of the garage!

The car that i have just now is very economical ,It does about 20 kilometers to the litre!

A specious car
It is a specious car with lots of room,it seats 5 adults comfortably

A sport car
I used to have a really fast open-topped sport car when I was younger but It is not very practical in the winter.

A car alarm
My neighbor's car went off at 2am and work the whole street up!
The thieves ran away when the alarm went off

If an alarm goes off ,it makes noise to warn u about sth

Skid=If a vehicle or a wheel on a vehicle skids .it suddenly slides sideways and u can not control it

1)Seat
The seats are really comfortable

2)Seat belt
Please,buckle your seat belt

3) upholstry=materials used to cover chairs
The upholstery is black leather

The door handle is broken

4) Window rollers(American)=Window winders(British)
There is no window roller,the windows are opened and closed automatically
Can you (roll up/close) the window ,please?
Do you mind if I (roll down/open)the window?

5)Ignition Switch
The car key is in the ignition switch

6)Door lock
The door lock does not work

7) Rear view mirror
Let me adjust the rear view mirror

8) Side mirror(American)= Wing mirror (British)
The side mirror is broken

9) Rear window/(Front window=Windshield=windscreen)
The rear window is cracked
The windshield is cracked

10)Steering Wheel
The streering wheel turns freely.The steering system is hydraulic

The instrument panel has a beautiful design

The dashboard has a large glove compartment

14)Gauges(Speedmeter,Revolution per minute(PRM),Gas gauge=petrol gauge , Temperature gauge,Oil gauge)

17) Windshield wiper=Windscreen wiper=A blade with a rubber edge that moves across the windscreen to make it clear of rain,snow
This knob operates the windshield wipers

18) Heater (fan/blower)
This switch turns on the heater

19)Headlights
This switch turns on the headlights

Put on your low beams
Dip your high beams(put on low beams),It is dazzling =Blinding the oncoming drivers
Always use low beams in the fog

20) Gearshift(American)= Gear Lever(British)
This is the gearshift

21) Handbrake=Emergency brake
The handbrake is on the left

22) Gas pedal (American)=Accelerator pedal (British)
Clutch pedal
Brake pedal

The gas pedal is little loose
The pad on the brake pedal is worn out
This car has not a cluch pedal

23) (Front/Back) bumper =protect car from hitting and reduce the hit
The cars was bumper to bumper on the road to the coast
The front bumper is a little bent/crooked

24)Fender(American)/Wing(British)
There is adent on this fender

25) Top/Roof
The top of car is dented
My new Mercedes has a nice sunroof

26) Door
The door is a little (out of=off) kilter,You need to slam it to close it.

27)Trunk (American)=Boot(British)
Please close the trunk (Lid=door)

28) Spare tire
Is the spare tire in the trunk?

29) Roof-rack= Luggage rack
The roof-rack is a little loose

30)Trim
The trim along the sides is nice

31) Accessories
This car has a lot of accessories

32) Signal lights(American)= Indicator lights (British)
One of the signal lights is broken

33)Taillights(American)=Rear lights(British)
You have left the taillights

34)Back-up lights
One of the back-up lights does not come on=turn on

35) License plate(American)=Number plate(British)
The license plate is a little loose

36)Gas tank door(American)=Petrol cap(British)
I can not lock the gas tank door

Where is the antenna?

These splash guards look nice on the car

Part Two Car engine

Engine

The engine ticks

The engine is not tuned

The engine is idle

I think I should (have=get) the engine tune up

Burns oil

My car burnes oil ,The exhaust is blue ,I should get the piston rings changed

Radiator

The radiator is leaking,There must be a leak in it

The radiator is boling over

Fan belt

The fan belt is too loose,It is squeaking

Generator

The generator is out of order

Starter

The starter has burned out

Spark plug

This spark plug is no good

Oil pump

I think the oil pump does not work properly

Fuse
Maybe this fuse is burned out

Exhaust pipe
There is a hole in the exhaust pipe

Oil pan
The oil pan is dented

Brake fluid
Pour some brake fluid in this reservoir

Brake shoes
The brake shoes are worn out

Barakes
The brakes have overheated

Engine overheated=has heated up
The engine has overheated

Part Three Rires and Wheels of car

Tire=Wheel

Take off=Remove the wheel

What are your tires like?

I have 4 brand new tires

Front tires/ (Rear tires=back tires)

The front tires are low(on air),Put some air in the front tires
This tire is not good.Get it changed

Flat tire
The rear tire is flat
Do not forget to get the flat tire (patched=repaired=fixed)

Tube
This tube is (no good=useless),Throw it away

Blow out
I was driving at 100kilimeters when the (rear tire=back tire) blow out

Let some air out of this tire

Snow Tires
You should put on your snow tires

Do you have chains for your tire?

Take the spare tire out of the trunk
Put on the spare tire

Take off=Remove the hubcap with this screwdriver

Bolts= Nuts

Loosen the bolts

Take off=Remove the bolts

Jack

Jack up the car =Pump up the jack=jack it up
Now,(put the the jack down =Lower the jack ),and fasten the bolts=nuts

Part Four (Gas tank)

Gas tank(American)=Pertol Tank(British)

The gas tank is empty

We are low on gas

We are running out of gas

We should (need to) fill the car

Pull over(American)=pull up(British) , We are out of gas/petrol
Pull over = to drive to the side of the road and stop ypur car,or make someone else do this
The policeman signalled to him to pull over
He Pulled the car over
A cop pulled him over and gave him a spesd ticket
She saw the ambulance coming up behind her and pulled over
He pulled up (stoped) at the traffic lights

Is the gas station nearby?

There is a gas station halfway down that street on the left

Part Five (Looking after a car)

Tune the engine

The engine is not tuned

The engine is idle

Why do not have tuned up?

Low (Oil/water)

You are low on oil ,you'd better add some.

You are low on water=The water level is low,put some water

Thin oil / Thick oil

This motor oil is too thin for summer ,You need thicker oil

Anti-freeze

Have you put in anti-freeze

Fan belt

The fan belt is broken=snapped
Can you tighten the fan belt a little?

Wobble...Aligned

The wheels wobble.I must get/have the wheels alignated

Bald tire

The tires are bald ,You' better have/get them replaced.
Burn out=stop working because it gets too hot or it is used too much.

Recapped/Retreaded Tire
Recap=to restore a used tire to useable condition by bonding ner rubber onto a worn tire tread and lateral surface=put new treads onto tire
Tread=Imprint of the tire
You can have/tires recapped/retreaded
